Cheshire and Wirral provide a wide range of habitats for birds, from the estuaries of the Dee and Mersey in the west to the high moors of the Peak District in the east. During 2004-2007 more than 350 volunteers surveyed each 2x2km tetrad in the area, recording every bird species in breeding season and in winter. This lavishly illustrated Atlas records their findings and provides full accounts of 186 species, with briefer treatments of another 31.
