This DVD is a video diary of a 10 day birding tour to Colorado and Kansas in April 2019.
Arrangements were by Ribble Bird Tours of Blackpool. The group flew from Manchester to Denver, via Munich.
The main objective of the trip was to see the Greater & Gunnison Sage Grouse – plus Greater & Lesser Prairie Chicken at their lek sites. Other interesting species encountered included White-tailed Ptarmigan, Mountain Plover, Brown-capped Rosy Finch, American Three-toed Woodpecker, Woodhouse's Scrub-jay, Pinyon Jay, Steller's Jay, Clark's Nutcracker, Lewis's Woodpecker, Evening Grosbeak, Townsend's Solitaire, Pygmy Nuthatch, etc.
For those contemplating a visit to experience the spectacle of the grouse and prairie chickens performing, this DVD gives an invaluable insight as to what to expect, including the extremes of habitat in the areas visited. At this time of year the Rocky Mountains with their snow covered tops are stunning! By contrast, it is necessary to traverse the wide open plains to reach some lek sites, and the breeding grounds of the lovely Mountain Plover.
Single disc with a running time of 105 minutes.
